| The word “Prana”
is derived from the ancient language Sanskrit and
means “Life Force”. The founders of
the company share the vision that a new wave of
corporate citizenship is needed if this planet and
all its people are to prosper, a corporate citizen
that conducts business activities for the sole purpose
of injecting and then sustaining “life force”
or “energy” into nation building or
community upliftment projects
The Prana Bottling Company is wholly owned by
the “Siyakhula Trust.” The Siyakhula
Trust was founded by experienced and successful
businessman with the sole purpose and mandate
of raising capital to fund social upliftment programmes
through The Prana Foundation, a Section 21 company.
The journey of the Prana Bottling Company started
with the acquisition of the Fontenel brand. Fonténel
Natural Spring Water (“The fountain of the
Nels) was establishing in 1998 by the Nel family.
The Nels carefully and steadily build the brand
and business based on sound environmental stewardship
(in ensuring that the health of the source and
its surroundings were a fundamental priority),
ethical business practices (of honesty and trust
as well as empowering staff through training)
etc.. These characteristics tied in perfectly
with the Siyakhula Trust leading to the subsequent
acquisition and new era for the company.
